had this guy friend at work. We joke around and fun all the time. We talk
on the phone and even talk on the computer. We were all great till
yesturday at work we got into this wicked fight and he out of the blue
calls me a whore.

Now, he knew that would hurt my feelings and make me cry more than
anything.

He emailed me today and called me a drama queen and a big baby for
crying.

What the hell is wrong with him?

Please don't answer this in a smart @ss way, I'm asking for advice not
sarcasim

Forget about him, he's a loser and just upset that he can't have you.

When 2 guys argue, it can degenerate to a fist fight. But if its against a woman, then the norms of society forbids us men from hitting a woman. So some guys resort to using any verbal insult he can think up to hurt a woman the most. When you reacted to that word, he scored a victory. He had hurt you without throwing a punch. He was fully aware that this word was going below the belt, but he did it anyway. You're dealing with a guy who wants to win any argument, AT ALL COST, regardless of what it takes, or what the consequences are, the only thing that matters, is that he won, and got the last word in.

After delivering you a fatal blow, he doesn't stop. He presses the attack by sending you emails to taunt you further. This is a very cruel and sadistic mind. I would guess this guy is single, and his last gf, or ex, had left him because of it. If I was in your shoes, I would cease all communications with this guy. When you see an email from him, do not respond at all to give the impression you never bothered to read it, you simply deleted any incoming emails from him. If your email allows it, you should just block him out, so all emails are automatically refused from going into your IN box. This guy is not normal. He has a cruel streak in him. I wouldn't be surprised if he has pass charges of spousal abuse, or domestic abuse convictions on his record.

I don't know what you said to him - but guy's egos are tender and there are some men out there who think that a woman uses her tears to be manipulative. Next time you see him, just straight up be professional and apologize for the argument and say that you hope that you'll still be able to work together in a professional capacity. Be concise and don't add anything else. After that, don't joke around and don't be as friendly. After his asinine behaviour, let him be the one to start things off on a friendly foot.

Some guys do that for the same reason girls do. Girls get all b*tchy and call us names when they're mad. They attack out character and support their claims with all kind of issues from the past we've forgotten about and thought were resolved.

It's called fighting dirty. It happens when someone is frustrated and feels unable to express and convey their point to the other. Usually, it doesn't happen (especially with guys) if they feel the other person is actually listening to them.

Tell him that what he did was not very professional.

... and start being serious (ie joke scope limits) at work, because that blurs the lines of acceptability

he's a jerk, dont waste your time on him. He just wants to string you along cuz he's probably aware that you have feelings for him. If you didnt, you wouldnt react the way you did. Ditch him, find someone who will appreciate you and respect you.

Well, sometimes guys hurt the one that they like. It happened to me too. Sometimes they just can't control themselves. Don't worry, he was just angry.
