ok so i've been talking to this guy for about a month, met online actually went and met in person, turned out to be a really nice evening with him. only one problem between us is that there is a big age gap between us with him being older. i have no problem with it because i figure i will either gain a friend or something more...anyway now i feel that he has done this complete 180 turn on me saying in his latest email that he is a bit introverted about all this due to our age... You are extremely nice. I have no excuse for being aloof. Just worried that I am too old. I'm wondering if his latest email is just kind of a nice way of saying goodbye and that he wants to move on. I feel like he is giving up before anything has even started. I'm also not one that just lets chances at love and happiness go by so I feel a little anxious and impatience on my part. He also said after our first meeting that he would like to see me again sometime soon and knew that he was older. thanks

Be nice to him and give him a graceful bow out. He's concerned that people will frown upon him for seeing you. You don't say how old you are either. If you are under 18 he may be afraid of the legal consequences.

If you're under 18, drop it. If you're over 18, write him or call him and let him know that you don't care. If he still won't see you, you know it's not about age, that's just his excuse.

Also, make very sure that he's not married. Make sure you have more than just a cell phone number for him, and that you talk to him at times when you would expect him to be home, not just at work or when he's away from home. I'm sorry to say that, but often these guys are married and just pretending to be single.

When I was 19, I met this 40 year old guy. We dated a few times and got along great. One day he told me that it was best, due to our age difference, we each go our own ways. Needless to say, I was devestated, and felt used and hurt. I assumed that he had used me.

It was years later, when I ran into him again. He was in his fifties, and looked so old to me. He acted so old too. He was also with a woman his own age. That is when I realized that he knew I would look at him, and feel that way some day. He did me a favor, but it took years to realize it.

Just thought this story would help you to understand how he feels.

I think he's feeling insecure about being older and is giving you an easy out just in case you think he's too old. Let him know that his age means very little to you.

He has had time to reflect on the consequences of the difference in your ages. He isnt comfortable with so take the hint and move on.
Better luck next time?

How old are you?, him?

It sounds like he knows hes to old for you and is trying to get you to stop seeing him because he is unable to do it himself.

You need to be careful.. remember:

1. You have chatted online
2. You have seen him on a date and therefore on his "best behavior"

You DO NOT know what this man is really like.

He is genuinely concerned about you breaking his heart...smiling....he is not saying "good-by" he is just scared. Let him know that you are really interested.
Good luck!
