It's called stress or overload of information.

I too have experienced loss of memory and it can be really embarrassing - as you have described. People do not always believe that you forget things, and think you are lying instead.

I have mentioned it twice to my GP and he laughed, saying 'welcome to the aging process' - or words to that effect. He assured me nothing was wrong. This doesn't mean that you should ignore it. My suggestion would be to see your GP and tell them what is happening and see what THEY say.

BTW, I researched some of the memory loss drugs being developed, and some that are available. Ginko is moderately expensive compared to ordinary vitamins and minerals. I have a list of over 35 research projects which each show Ginko having absolutely no effect. There are some further trials which suggest it has minor benefits. However the research evidence says to me "waste of money". I'll give it a miss - after my local pharmacist point-blank refused to guarantee it would work or have any effect. She also said she didn't actually know anyone who had benefited from it.

Sophias suggestion (above) seems pretty good too.

First of all, I'm no professional, and should seek the help of a professional even if you suspect something is wrong. Just realize some 'Professionals' have more vested(biased) interests other then your Health, not to scare you, but to make the best informed decision decision you can.

With that disclaimer then:

1) Ask a trusted friend or mentor, for advice.

2) Ask that 'friend' to make a simple request that has little impact on either of your lives. "Bring me a '1984' penny tomorrow" or something like that...

3) Practice pnemonics, memory-tricks(Google for more info..) Example:

a) Lenny ask you for a '1984' penny.
b) Penny Rhymes with Lenny (try to remember this)
c) Visualize Lenny the size of Earth.
d) Imagine larry's tongue comeing out of the ocean.
e) on larry's tongue, is a writing that has the numbers:
f) '1984' on it.
g) If you exaggerate this image big enough to make you laugh your equator off, you just might remember about the penny.

Kevin Tredeau has a pretty good book on this, the same guy of "natural cures they don't want you..." fame.

Hope this Helps!!

I too am very forgetful. This is because I was diagnosed with a brain tumor several years ago. One month after getting married I had trouble with forgetting and being disoriented. Long story short?? Make sure that you're getting plenty of sleep, make sure you eat right (like anybody eats right!) and if you're still concerned, a checkup with your physician will do. Just make sure you tell him/her about your problems. Write every single detail, question, or anything pertinent to your problem down before seeing your doctor. I was told this while at Mayo Clinic prior to my surgery. Luckily I am just fine! For now...anyway... My best to you, friend. And DON'T take this lightly!! I cannot stress this enough!!! Go see a neurologist to ease your mind. A neurologist is a brain specialist who will diagnose you to find any problem issues regarding your head.

You may just have a lot on your mind that is interfering with your concentration and giving you headaches. If you are stressed (or have kids) your forgetfulness is understandable.
