You can file as soon as you received ALL of your W-2 forms
where you have worked for last year.

January 2 of each new year, is the time allotted as a begining of "filing your taxes." Before that date, you will get your completed tax forms returned to you. Thus, this would be wasting your time. I wish you well. This information is also stated in the forms that the IRS provides. I wish you well.

Th.e IRS doesn't accept filings by mail until Jan 1, or efiles until mid-January. You have to have all of your W-2's before you can file.

As soon as you get your W2. It is required for hard-copy filers and the code number is required for electronic filers.
