Having been a paramedic for 15 yrs, I found that the single tube stethoscope was more superior to the double tube (sprague). Try out different ear pieces after you buy whichever stethoscope and see which feels better in your ear. Good luck

It all depends on the manufacter. However I have always felt single lumen stethoscopes are best. If you looking for a good one for the field i would recomend is a Littman SE. Cost about 50$. Great one for an EMT, or Paramedic.

A single tube is acoustically accurate enough for the work you do. It is less bulky.

If not secured together, double tubes bang against each other, making it difficult to differentiate that sound from heart beats or pulses.

It is supposed to be the same. The "signal" travels the same as pressure through a tube. check the type of tubing.

tubing can influence the signal.

if the single one is a more simple design, i would go with it.

concentrating on hearing with one ear may also increase your sense of hearing :)

i would say that it would depend on you. the sound conductance on both are typically the same. thus, go with the one you're most comfortable with.
if the single tube works better for you then use that. anyways, it's less bulky.
