Women are allowed into Mosques during day time. If a wife has general permission to go to Mosque to pray she does not need to ask every time. Normally she goes with her husban. If husband is away or on work, she always goes with some other family member who is Mehram (whom she can not marry) for preservation of her honor so no one can accuse her if she goes with some other man who is not
Mehram (a family member like son, brother, father or uncle).
There is a statement of Prophet Mohammad saying that best place for woman is her home. For this reason most men back home do not require women to work. Some Imams have taken it wrong and do not want women to come to Mosque. So to restrict women, they do not make separate area available for women in Mosque. This happens only in India, Pakistan and in some small towns of Arabian countries. In America most Muslims are well educated and nearly every mosque has area designated for women. Newer mosques have galleries built upstairs for women with closed circuit tv and camera in front of Imam so that women can see Imam and hear his lecture in upstair gallery to learn Islam and all religious practices.
In America Muslim men and women are more practicing and knowledgeable in Islam better than Muslims in the countries they came from. They want to prepare their children with knowledge of Islam and to make sure that American culture doesn't adversaly affect their children. They also control their children for watching limited programs only suitable for children.

Yes they are allowed and about asking their husband, they certainly MUST ask their husband where they wanted to go. I think in this case, asking the husband for praying at the mosque (for a religious reason) still a must but if the husband is not at home (because it is daytime, their husband maybe still at work) they can proceed to the mosque and told their husband later.

I know a woman who just converted to Islam. She lives in new jersey, to give you a social setting. She cannot go to mosque, but she goes to a Muslim womens club once a week. Keep in mind, in Islamic countries the setting is far different and women are further oppressed. To answer your question simply, no.

Few mosques have a section for ladies to pray, the mosque that u are talking bout probably doesn't have a section for ladies to pray in. But, most likely they would be reading their prayers at home

Ideally yes.
A woman have to get consent of her husband to go out from home, there is no need to get permission to enter into Mosque.
