Do they feel He must conform to their way of life or what?

many people make "God" into their image, instead of allowing God to mold us into His image. Deep within all of us is a desire for God= however until that person looks to Jesus , He will never find Him= we are born spiritual beings- so it is normal to search for the spiritual- however there is only one way to God, and that is through Jesus Christ.

If there is a God and he is 100% good then I would want him in my life & "conforming" is not the problem because I live a pretty moral life, the problem is that there is no way of telling whether God is there. Thus people look for something else.

I think for the vast majority of humanity, there is an innate need for some kind of spirituality. But many people just cannot accept the idea of "God" as it has been taught to them - especially the personal, judgmental idea of God that is present in much (but not all) of Christianity. It has nothing to do with conforming God to their way of life. It has everything to do with rejecting an idea of God that contradicts basic values, like Love.

Peace to you.

Sometimes people want relief from their pain, but they don't want to change the way they live their lives. They go looking for spiritual "quick fixes". The only people who will try to give them those fixes are manipulators/dishonest.

When a person comes to the end of their own resources and turns their life over to the care of God, they find the love and help of Jesus Christ. At least, that is how it worked for me when I was desperate and suicidal. On Oct. 21, 1971 - I turned my life over to Jesus and He has helped me ever since that time. Sometimes I still go through really hard times, but I never go through them alone!

I don't believe in fictional characters. Why would I look for spiritual development external to myself rather than within? It has nothing to do with conforming to god's law, if we could even agree on a common definition of that concept.

How about turning your question around: People go seeking for spiritual development to sources outside themselves rather than relying on their internal guide. Why? People will seek out only those things from a single book or character? Do they feel comfort from such a book or character? Do they have a huge need to be controlled by something?

I went seeking because I could not believe that a god who loves us would condemn good people to eternal torture because they didn't bow down and pray to him in a particular way and by a particular name. Any deity which would be so hateful as to do that is not one that I can worship.

Not all of us are seeking something spiritual in our lives. I'm okay with people having faith, but I draw then line when they continously pray for me, insinuating that I'm missing out on something by not having god in my life.

My life is fine without some supernatural being to believe in. I'm sure your life is fine WITH that being. And that's okay.

I sought the Christian God for 15 years, as a small child, throughout my teens and as a young adult. I quit asking and trying to believe in the Bible and the "loving" deity there.

I did look elsewhere - it took years but I did find a path that I was called for and deities that aren't easy to deal with but they and the religion fit me.

One does not need god to be spiritual.

One only needs to look into their own self and see who they are. The better one knows their own self, the better they understand the universe.

It's something like that anyway. But, regardless, one needs not god to seek spirituality.

Everyone hungers for an answer, but they don't like to face reality. They want the power, they don't like realizing that they are a creation who's whole duty is to fear their creator and keep his commandments
