so this past summer me and my family rented a house on lake Wawasee in indiana, very close to Syracuse Lake. Our house had a channel behind it and we would fish late at night.. i noticed a gar fish, we tried to hook it several times. Does anyone know if there are gar fish in the white river or any place close to Anderson, Indiana? I have become quite obsessed and really want to catch one! Any suggestions?

to catch a gar catch some small sunfish, whack them with a knife a few times, put it on your hook they will eat wounded fish, , dont think there are any in white river, there mostly a lake fish, besides the mess white river is in who would eat any thing that comes out of it any way lol,

I began focused on gar in the Saint Johns River through fact i develop into no longer catching that many bass. they're incredibly perplexing to hook. I even have reeled in ten plus pound gars that weren't even hooked. There tooth have been in simple terms tangled with the line. Get a stay shiner and a small treble hook. If treble hooks are unlawful and you're scared trim off between the hooks so which you have a double hook. Tie the hook to a 50 pound flourocarbon chief. The flourocarbon gets tangled of their mouth extra effective then steel. they do no longer in many situations ruin it. Hook on a stay shiner or small blue gill. Use a bobber in case you're and amatuer or loose line it for the ideal consequences. whilst the gar hits permit him take it. The relatively huge ones will run off and lay on the backside to devour. i don't understand what they do yet enable them to take it for as long as conceivable. Then set the hook deep and play them out good. they're in many situations poorly hooked so play them good. those would nicely be smoked beheaded/gutted or filleted and fried. they're floor feeders so their meat is white. There are alot of them so devour them up.
