Yes that is why there is 16 digits per credit card

any number that starts with a 5 is a mastercard
4 its a visa

Yes - otherwise there would only be 10,000 credit card numbers possible. There are something like 2,000,000 credit cards issued every year so about every other day the last four digits would be reused.
