In order to forgive, God decided that he had to kill himself. Imagine if you ate your sister's cookie when she told you not to. And she'd say, "I will forgive you, but let me kill myself first!"

Back to my original question, is God considered a Sadist for inflicting pain on himself? And/or is he a masochist for willingly being tortured?

He is love. What greater love can there be than to sacrifice one's life for the sake of another. That in no way has any resemblance to either being a masochist or a sadist. John 3:16 says it best. " For God so loved the world the He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. "

Ok if someone kills people you expect justice right? How much more a Righteous God. Look at yourself and you have to admit that you are not going to make it without a Savior.

By me He is considered the most wonderful Savior. He sacrificed for my benefit when I had been His enemy. He is so good and you are being insulting about something you don't understand.

I will pray for you because God loves you just as much as He loves anyone else.

Where did you get, he killed himself. Others killed him. He knew from the beginning of his life what he was sent to do. To become the ultimate sacrifice. He was totally free from sin. It was thru his shed blood that we may have everlasting life.

John 10:11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
Joh 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

may the Lord Jesus bless you....

I'm pretty sure you meant Jesus, not God. And he didn't get killed cuz he liked pain, he was a sacrificial lamb to cleanse us of our sins. The least you could do is remember his name.

Did you ever read the part in the Bible, it's in the begining of Genesis, that says that in the day you eat of this fruit you shall surely die!...therefore, God in His mercy took death for Himself rather making everyone suffer in Hell for eternity

it goes back to the Old Testament law about the blood sacrifice. The ultamite sacrifice was sending His son, then everything was paid for. The book of Hebrews explains it pretty well. :)

no.
a masochist is someone who enjoys pain.
Jesus died on the cross... not because he liked having the physical pain, but so people like us could have our sins forgiven... so we wouldnt have to do the same thing that he did.
he sacrificed himself for us. that is how much he loves us.
and he didnt "kill" himself. physically, his body was destroyed, but spiritually... Jesus lives on in Heaven.

If you had a child that would be harmed unless you subjected yourself to harm - what choice would you make. You'd endure the harm on your child's behalf. Physical death has a completely different meaning to God/Christ than it does to us. He knew, without exception, the nature of His spirit.
