Thanks for your question. I have strong beliefs concerning the importance of which Version of the Bible one reads. I strongly feel that if one is serious about knowing the true Word of God then it is imperative that they read the 1611 King James Version. A lot of why I think this way has to do with faith. Yet I know that God is not the author of confusion and all these many Versions keep everyone on a different page. The Devil knows the power of Gods word and that is why I believe that he has sought so hard to mislead so many into thinking that when it comes to the Bible "Any size fits all” But this isn't the case with the Bible for it's "One size fits all" These other versions shouldn't call themselves Bibles but only commentaries, for that's all they are. Man seeking to change the words of the Bible in order to suit their own interpretations of what God has already said and what they feel he should have said.

I really enjoy The Message translation by Eugene H. Peterson for reading. I like the fact that it is written in every day English. (See below for comparison) For Bible study, I used several versions because I want to make sure I have the context right. Among those, I use the American Standard, King James, New King James, Revised Standard, and Living Bible. This seems to work for me.

I have read the King James Version then the Revised Standard Version and for the last 33 years I've read the New American Standard Version.
When I read/study the Bible I often read parts from several versions to enhance my understanding. The Bible is an amazing book, I hope you will read it for yourself, too!

Yes, I read the New King James Version.
They took out all the old English and clean up some of the translation mistakes.
That being said i still enjoy and read the King James Version. I have never had a problem following the old English.

The New World Translation, although I acknowledge and accept many other versions as well.
I have found that the choice of words differs in each version of the bible, but the overall theme or meaning of the scriptures is the exact same in every bible.
And that makes sense, because we only have one true God (author of the bible) thus there is only one bible (God's book).
Hum ... makes one wonder ... shouldn't there be only one form of worship then also, rather than all the different religions?

I've heard/read several people who say they have. I've read individual books (KJV) and my friends' husband is reading the Catholic version; I've read their are several versions-I know Greek Orthodox have their own and there's the Ethiopian Bible which contains the Book of Jubilees...which the Europeans didn't agree with. I think skepticsannotatedbible.com has a list of the many different versions available. Some include books others don't have.

I read and study the KJV, although for entertainment and I would read various versions only until I can not stand it any more.
Might sound weird but it's my truth.
I've gone over some of the answers before I did mine and there are so many... I do not know what to call the owners of the answers... Lost, unbelievers, or are they seekers of the truth? There is just so many with out an appropriate answer.
God bless even the curious at heart to open their eyes to the truth of salvation threw Jesus Christ only.
