Algesia is a root having to do with pain. The prefix "a-" means "without", or if the word starts with a vowel, "an-" is the prefix. So: an-algesia = without pain.

Like many seemingly connected words in English, anal and analgesic (analog, analysis, etc.) come from different roots. English is a conglomeration of several major languages and a few minor ones.

Why is "analog"?
It has nothing to do with "anal". It's just how it is spelled.
