Should I tell my parents that I am a Satanist?

They are not religious, but they do tend to believe propaganda and I'm pretty much scorned whenever I act differently than the rest of the population. Still, I've always been open and honest, and this is something that's big in my life. Should I let my parents know, and try to explain to them what Satanism /really/ is?

Oh, and Christians...forget the 'I hope you find Jesus' and 'God blesses', alright? :)

Satanism is not about worshiping the Christians' 'devil'.

If you feel you should, then there's a reason...you want to be you and not "hide". So then you should probably act on those feelings.

Just be armed with the facts about what Satanism really is, because it is highly misunderstood.

Best wishes.

Cody, you dont have to tell them anything, really. However if you are young and live at home, it might be good to give them a heads up. Even though most Satanism isnt worshipping Satan per se, it is a scary thing to most people. Perhaps, just tell them youre an atheist? Im assuming as a Satanist, you are. I wish you the best, Gods peace to you :-)

If you tell your parents they'll probably shun you, look at you weird, be very worried, especially if they are old fashoined or older than most parents. Basically you are screwed, and i'll tell you what i think, i'm not on good terms with god in fact i think he's ignoring me. Basically i'm probably colser to the devil right now than any one else. The devil isn't someone you should worship, its like worshiping the greediest most selfish sun of a *******. Like one of thoses bosses in a movie that would go to high heights just to get what he wants, kill, bribe, lie, deciet, betray, and worst of all take you down with him when he falls.... he's goin down and he's dragin me and you with him, now when i get my things together i'll lift up. But why would you want to worship someone thats ruthless and only wants you for his own selfish reasons? Have you heard of possesions and excorscosms?.... i must admist that i am scared of him, i am, its pretty sad...really think who you are dealing with, and reconsider what you're doing...But i'm curious, maybe you can answer this for me, what got you to start satanism? Something must have gotten you to turn to him of all things. TEll your parents or don't, but to be honest, if i were you i wouldn't tell anyone, only my people within the "group" oo and i wanna know excatly waht you do. DO you hold ceremonies, and use blood, and fire, sacrifices maybe...human or animal...naw i'm kidding, i just read that some would rape and kill people......

I have kept my religious choices from my family since I moved away from Catholicism. I let them know that I simply don't wish to follow Catholicism anymore, that it's belief structures are not aligned with my own. I never labeled my religion, as it always brings a lot of negative connotation derived from ignorance. Good luck.

If you think that telling your parents about the fact will hurt them then please don't tell them and also try to get away with any such belief. Because even if your beliefs are true but are hurting your parents, they are not right for you. Changing a belief is worth if it can help keeping others happy since no religion or belief teaches us to hurt anyone.

Ok, I don't think you should tell them unless you can handle a challenge. I think it is good that you want to tell them, maybe they can help you sort out your feelings and anger. Jesus loves you whether you like it or not. I hope and pray that God works in your life. God bless.

Tell them the beliefs first
The beliefs are more bearable than the name of the system
Ask them what they think about the beliefs
Then if they ask the name tell them
Bear in mind you should make sure your brothers & sisters of
that system aren't the bad, sick, demented kind.

i ( a Christian) will say I hope Jesus finds you, but I also think that if you tell your parents, then you are making a definate stand for what you believe in. If you think your ready for that, then go ahead, but if you are questioning your beliefs, then hold off, because they can ask questions that could percievably just get you confuzzled.

If you use that word they will think that you are just being a poseur. Tell them about some of your beliefs, without using a label. That way you can share what you think in a manner that may be considered, and possibly respected.
