there is a god and just that. no religion attached or anything. also not an anthropomorphic, personal god but one that is more of a force of nature or a living being that is the universe itself.

Sounds like pantheism

That's not quite my belief. I have no religion, but I believe there is a god that made the universe and is in every part of it. I do think god is personal, but not anthropomorphic (the two do not necessarily have to go together).

But if your idea works for you, run with it. That's what I'm doing. :)

The dictionary definition of religion, is an institution which man has developed in order to explain and understand God. Essentially the bible is the handbook for human spirituality, although many of the higher knowledge has been lost, or destroyed.

The bible tells us that God is a spirit. We are called to worship him in spirit (in the spiritual realm) and in truth.
Man is called to ascend into heaven (by his spirit) and worship God there, while alive. Man denies the truth of this, but there were many in biblical times who achieved the ascended state and were willing to die for the truth.

I'm an atheist and a naturalistic pantheist which means that "I believe in God/dess but spell it N-A-T-U-R-E." It is sort of like a nontheistic and rational "pagan". It's paganism for the 21st century and is even more earth-centered than "mainstream" paganism which focuses on magic. It is very eco-centered and Green in focus.

Knowing of the interdependence of nature (food cycle, etc.) as well as the interdependence of actions (ancestors' past actions affect my current circumstances and my actions will affect the circumstances of my descendents) fills me with a sense of gratefulness which I demonstrate both through my actions as well as concrete actions of respect and honor.

We celebrate the solstices and equinoxes. Some of us even do rituals - for myself I have developed offeratory rituals to honor Nature and the ancestors, Sacred Meal ritual, and chanting and meditation practices. These are available in the files section of the public pantheist groups here on Yahoo and on Beliefnet.

I'm with you!

I think religion is a useful way to start learning about faith, but after a while, I think religion should be abandoned so you can concentrate on faith in the deity. I believe the deity is the same, in the end, for all religions--all paths lead to the same light.

I think God is love--nothing more, nothing less--with no physical form, no gender, and no ability to affect the physical world except through influencing people to act with love.

Nice to find someone else who also believes in keeping God minimalistic

From my shallow understanding, i believe that a 'god' lives in everyone's heart. There are juz some problems that we cannot share with others or do not know how to tackle with it. Therefore, in order to comfort ourselves, we seek 'advice' from something that may or may not exist. We wish to 'dispose' the problem to 'others' so that we can lessen our burden and feel better. Sometimes our mind are just not strong enough. Thus, we will 'create' this 'god' which can give us the strength we need. It may be another 'you' and etc. (In other words, sometimes we are 'deceiving' ourselves. )

That's a nice way to look at things. I can believe that a lot easier than all the religious cr@p. It makes belief simple without handing power to power hungry religious rulers.

I beleive that there is one energy and no matter what way we worship (if at all) then we only have the one god to answer to. If there is any other then i suppose we will find out when our time comes though i have my reasons ready to explain to him on my final day!

I'd like to take a quote from a movie called "DOGMA" It's not what you believe its that you believe. I myself..beleive in a higher being..or rather power..I dont know yet..I also believe that the bible started out as something completly differant then what it is now.
