My first dog when I was a child, Daisy May. I got her when I was 10 years old. She lived to be 18 years old. She was a Cocker Spaniel and Fox Terrier Mix. I had another dog that I got when I was 12. She was abused I rescued her from the street. Her name was Sandy. She was a Terrier mix a real Heinz 57. I had her 17 years she a few months old when I found her. These were both small/medium dogs. I had a large dog. Shiloh. She was a German Shepherd/ Labrador Retriever Mix. She weighed over 100 pounds. She was 13 when she got cancer and hip dysplasia and had to be put to sleep. It was so hard losing all my babies. I was so attached to them. Presently I have a 17 month old Bichonpoo. She is (knock wood) very happy and healthy.

a dog can generally live from 8 years to 16 years, no matter what breed they are (unless of disease)
the longest i've had a dog was 12 years and it was a Dalmation, but it died of a sickness so, possibly even longer

I had a beagle poodle mix (registered on both sides) that lived to be 4 months shy of 17. I stole him from my brother because they abused him. He was a year old when I got him and I spent the next 16 years trying to make up for the abuse he suffered at my brothers hand. He was the sweetest little dog I ever had the pleasure to know. I will always miss my Stinky. (He was named by my brother and we kept it ) I hope he is waiting for me in Heaven. Rest in peace little buddy.

I have had a dog that ran away when she was 22 and my grandmothers dog is I think 15 and she is still alive. My grandmas dog is a poodle and my dog was a mix between a poodle and Yorkie. I think the smaller the dog the longer they live.

My German Shepherd is 11 years old and going strong. Runs like the wind, chases the horses and cats. We're hoping he lives to age 14-16. With great nutrition and yearly health check up this can be attained.
