...and my boss accepted it. 3 days before my last day, she told my colleague to talk to me and ordered me to work for another 2 weeks because I am suppose to give a 1 month notice. Failure to do so will cause a deduction from salary. So even though I’ve worked for one month, I’ll paid half. Either way, I’ll be working 2 weeks for free!

I am just bummed that my boss doesn’t have the decency to talk to me face-to-face or earlier when I gave the resignation letter to her. But I felt like I’m being place in a losing situation.

My 3 months probation is over and they did not give any confirmation letter to me after my probation. And my colleague told me, I’ve to assume I’m accepted.

Another thing, I’m in a process of being evaluated for a position in an aviation company. There will be test and 2 panel interviews. Either way, I have to ask for frequent leaves from work. And that wouldn’t look so good either.

Please advise!

Why are you working 2 weeks for free? I'm a little confused.

I'm sorry you had this happen to you but unless you signed a contract you are not obligated to abide by rules that are being made up as one goes along. In the USA most position are filled on an at-will basis so that either party can terminate without repercussions! I don't know about where you are but you need to double check any papers you may have signed. Otherwise just leave as you planned and cut your Losses.

If you're going to work for free, I wouldn't do it. She didn't have the guts to tell you in the beginning, and to your face then that's her fault, and she shouldn't get free labor from you.
I'd call the free legal counsel in your area, and ask them what would be the legal ramifications for her trying to place such a stipulation on you - not that I would be doing anything legaly, but I would let her know up front that you're not stupid, and there are laws.
Who knows who else she has pulled this with?

You should have given one month notice. Now you need to deal with the consequences of giving a one week notice.

Sorry!

I would NOT work for free no matter WHAT anyone says - you can LEAVE a job ANYTIME you want to - and they HAVE to pay you unpaid wages within a set period of time PERIOD. I do not know what state you live in - check with your unemployment development department of your state.

CHECK WITH YOUR STATES LAWS REGARDING EMPLOYMENT IN YOUR FIELD.
