it might be broken,sorry.
you could run out to the store to get one (pharmacy)
or just use a blow dryer and brush (round one works best) to straighten, starting at the roots of your hair and going down the ends

I used to use conair straighteners, but i found i was having to buy a new one every 6 months because they kept tearing up (which is what yours just did). Then I invested in a Chi flat iron. It's great, works so much better, and I've had no problems with it for over 3 years.

Sounds like its busted. If its new you can probably exchange it with your receipt.
You should think of investing in a CHI, T3 or Metropolis brand straightener. The conair brand ones aren't really built to last.
Another good one that is a little less expensive is the FHI brand - its still really high quality but not as expensive as the others. You can buy them on ULTA.com

no offense, but conair is probably one of the very worst straighteners you can get. toss it, because its not going to work again.
ive had a Matrix Gold Heat Vavoom straightener for nearly a year and it works INCREDIBLY well. my hair dresser recommended it and im very very pleased with it. you only have to go over the section of hair once, and its straightened! and you can use a lower than normal heat to straighten, so it doesnt damage your hair (and take it from me, i have thick curly hair and this straightener makes my hair sleek, straight and shiiiiiiny)
if you need to do your hair for tomorrow, you should probably just straighten your hair with a blow dryer =(

The cord probably dislocated from the straightener, or something with the wires messed up; you probably won't be able to get a new one by tomorrow unless you go to Wal-Mart or Target right now.
Can you style it another way? If you need it to be straight, then you could just blow dry it straight or maybe borrow a friend's straightener

Did you try: http://www.conair.com/customer-service-cn-18.html which is the link for Conair's Customer Service line.. there might be something on their website.
It sounds broken. You need a refund if it is new.
If not = maybe run to a 24 hour pharmacy and get one . . . .

It doesn't work because it's a CONAIR. I know it's supposed to be a great brand, but just splurge on a ceramic hair straightener....trust me, it'll save your life.

use a blow dryer to straighten it, after you wash you hair get your brush and put your brush on the bottom side of your hair and the dryer on the top, and pull it down, just like how you would use a straightener

either go to wal mart and buy a new one.....or try blow drying it straight...put some straightening cream on it and use a big circular brush. It adds volume too.
