What is up w/ childrens clothes, they are just mini adult clothes! I have a 4 and 2 year old and I can not find a regular pair of jeans for my 4 year old to save my life, I have looked everywhere! I do not want my 4 year old little girl wearing lowrise jeans w/ belly and cleavage showing shirts! I want my girls to dress as the cute little girls they are not 25 year old adults! I am not a prude, I like low rise jeans...on adults not children. I have to by there shirts bigger so they will be long so there bellies or bums aren't hanging out! I haven't run in to the problem w/ my 2 year old since she is still in the baby sizes by my 4 year old is now in the regular childrens sizes and I cant find age apropriate clothes anywhere! Does anyone else agree w/ me on this one, and if you know where to get regular kids jeans (not lowrise!) I would love to know where!

you're so right. it's really disturbing the way little girls look like mini-adults. it's the parents fault in my opinion. but you can get really cute kid-looking clothes at Gymboree. they have the cutest stuff and nothing says "sexy" or "hottie". i shop a lot at Target and Walmart, if you're on a smaller budget. they have some grown up looking clothes, but you can still find a lot of good clothes that look age-appropriate. and if you live in California, try Children's Orchard. they have a lot of new clothes that are brand names for much much cheaper. they significantly raised their standards for used clothes. all of their stuff is either brand new or worn once or twice. good luck.

This might not be much help to you unless you live in Australia or New Zealand but Pumpkin Patch (a New Zealand company) have gorgeous clothes for girls and cute trendy clothes for boys. I have two toddlers (boys)and I get most of their clothes from there. I know they do orders online and probably distribute overseas so maybe you could get a catalogue and order from them. They are really good quality too and not too expensive. I really love their girls clothing but I have no little girls!
Good luck, I hope you find something appropriate (I agree a lot of clothing is far too "mini-adult")

I have seen little girl pants, in sizes 4t and under with stuff printed on the butt, I was in shock! They said "cutie", "princess", "cheer leader". I don't understand why a toddler needs to draw attention to the butt/ it's so freaking weird! Now I usually put belts on my daughter and she wears mostly 6x and 5t, she is 4 and a very slender 4 I might add but I feel like she doesn't need to show her little belly and try and be "sexy" it's WAY to young for that.
I once heard a little girl maybe 5 singing 'The Thong Song' I was wondering if I was the only one disgusted by that.
My kids don't listen to sexually explicit music, a little rock but none of the songs that degrade women or speak overtly about sex I never want to hear my babies singing about thongs, big d!!!s or anything like that. I want them to be young as long as possible and think about little kid stuff.
I know that wasn't apart of the question but I think it all goes together really.

It's repulsive. I'm so glad I have a boy and I don't have to worry about T-shirts with "Sexy" or "Hottie" written on them in rhinestones! I see it all the time because I work at an elementary school and it just drives me crazy. What kind of message are parents trying to send when they put their 7 year old in a shirt that says "Sexy" on it? Good God. It's frightening.
Good luck on finding appropriate clothes. I think Old Navy is a good idea (as someone else said) as well as Land's End.

I totally agree with you except i think the problem is not so much the jeans as it is with the shirts, skirts and dresses. They all look teenage. I just quit working at sears and the children's dept was so depressing to shop becuse the clothe were unattrative and no age appropriate with the lycra and polyester shape fitting shirts and dresses.

I have boys and I am still in the toddler sizes..... but I have noticed just by walking past the girls clothes that YES they look like just miniature adult clothes!! I mean.... for instance.... the baby doll tops.... WHY do little 9yr olds need to be wearing baby doll tops?? they look like maternity tops!! UHHHG I understand how you feel and I don't even have a girl yet. YET haha.

I absolutely agree! Where are the cute pants and shirts with little teddy bears on them? All I have seen lately is miniature adult versions and sometimes they cost more than the adult ones!

What if you bought her little boy jeans. Then to "girl" them up a bit you could buy little flower or butterfly appliques from the craft store and iron them on. I think that children's place has some girls clothing that isn't to "grown up" that and Osh Kosh.

some newscaster or tv personality mentioned this same thing, and called it Prosti-tots. I have boys, we typically get handme downs, but when I need something will often try lands end. Its a little pricier than old navy, but if you go to their overstocks you can get decent deals.
