I know this is a fairly common question, so I thought I'd`change it a little bit.

First, tell me what your favourite dog breed is.

Second, tell me why you love this breed, and what experience you have had with it.

Third, sum up your favourite dog breed in three words.

Fourth, tell me how the above three words relate to the breed.

Fifth, if you have pets of this breed, tell me their names, and if not tell me what you would call one if you got one.

1) Favorite breed: Border Collie
2) I train mine in Agility, Herding and in Rally Obedience...One is now 8 1/2 years old, the other is turning 3 next month.
3) 3 words: Bright, energetic, fabulous
4) Bright - they are easy to train, willing to please and can learn anything if you put time into it
Energetic - will play and/or work happily until they "drop". I have never worked or played mine to that point. They do have an "off" switch..you just need to train it and/or find it
Fabulous - for all the above reasons - and also because mine are trained "therapy" dogs - they visit in seniors homes and are well mannered and give kisses (if requested). They are easy to groom ( a good brushing weekly goes a long way - I groom dogs for a living - the last thing I want is a dog that needs constant grooming - LOL). My dogs love to do their Agility and Obedience but Herding is the main passion of the younger one. Watching a Border Collie herd is like watching poetry in motion....they are such naturals!
5) The names are: Chance (he is the older one - rescue dog - came with the name) and the younger one is Breagh (pronounced Brie - like the cheese) which is a Gaelic name I chose meaning uinique and beautiful.
Thanks for asking...I love to share info about my best friends...I also have a lab and a beagle.

Dalmation.

Personality and steadfast loyalty. The breed is underappreciated as a companion breed - they have a heroic regard for their masters and those close to them.

Bright, colorful and loyal.

Quick to frolic and responsive to the situation; beautiful to watch at play and rest; close to master nearly to a fault - will swim into water after you if they think you are in distress, love to be near at all times and watches over those close to him.

"Chance" is the one male I have now, about 11 years old.

Next name? Would probably adopt another already named adult, don't know.

The reason I will likely adopt an adult is that they are often in need - many are taken as puppies for small children or by people who do not know what to expect from the breed and are later rejected because of their boundless energy. They need good social training but will respond well to it, and they need to be in homes where the breed will be understood and appreciated for what it is. They are highly energetic and can appear clumsy in a confined home as they don't seem to understand their own size (medium) or strength (terrific for size) that well. They are playful and coordinated beyond measure out where they are free to romp, however. They love people and need to live indoors for the most part. Mine is a couch potato between extreme romps and has always maintained his weight by never eating more than he needs - on his own instinct. Incredible runner and companion.

1. German Shepherd Dog

2. My dogs are very wonderful companions. They are very magnificant dogs and I love their stance. They have a presence about them that makes a person sit up and pay attention. I have owned Germand Shepherds since 1987. I have had about 6 litters in that 20 years. I don't consider myself a backyard breeder. My female has German grandparents and some great lines, but bad hips so I had her spayed. My male's testicles didn't descend and he is out of showlines - so he got neutered.

3. loving, loyal and presence

4. They are extremely loving and want to be with me all of the time. They are loyal almost to a fault in their devotion to my family and willingness to protect us from harm.

5. Male - Worf
Female - Nami

When my son was about 6 years old, he and his dad went hiking out in the mountains. They took my foundation male -Prince - with them. Any way, they came upon a corral and out of nowhere a huge bull came charging out after my husband and son. Prince jumped after the bull and diverted the bull's attention while my husband and son got to safety. Later my husband saw the dog and the bull - the dog had chased the bull and was waiting for it to move again - possibly to attack it. Prince saved my son and my husbands lives!!!!!

How's that for loyalty?????

This is number 1. This seems too much like work! But I love little hairy dog that look funny- like flopsy-mopsy. I had a peke/terr mix with the funniest teeth (Muffin), and now I got a Lhasa/shi mix with a puffed ear (Vivica). The joy of my life.

2) So versatile and extremely friendly & protective.
3) The very best.
4) As far as versatility goes, they ARE the very best! (Schutzhund, protection, herding, companion, etc.)
5) If I had one I'd call him Kodiak for a boy or Rosetta for a girl.

Miniature Schnauzer..generally highly intelligent and easy to train...sweet, loving and loyal......alert and spirited, yet obedient to command. He is friendly, intelligent and willing to please. He should never be overaggressive or timid. He generally intelligent and learn quickly, excelled in formal obedience trials, agility competitions also. And his name is Snowy...(base on the cartoon name " tintin adventure")
