Someone please help me. I have been as patient, polite, and kind as possible, but I don't think I can take it anymore. Please give me some tips to get through these next few days.

I need to add that there is no booze in the house. Also, they baby my husband to such an extreme it's making him seem less masculine to me and I'm starting to get irritated with my husband as a result. I hate this!

Also, we don't have children so I can't use that as an excuse and the only vehicle here is father-in-law's...no way will he let us take it out on the town. We are 27 and 30 years old (husband and I) and we are being treated as babies. I should also add we are over 1,000 miles from home and flight doesn't leave 'til Friday. Husband is perfectly content here.

Three more days? You poor thing!

Get outside for a nice long walk every day especially if you are in an area where you can walk to a store or cafe and just spend some time there.
Try taking naps - even if you don't sleep at least you can get away from them.
Get some books and read read read.
Find a computer game to play and enjoy.
Write your holiday thank you notes.
Call some friends at home.
Call your family.
Try to imagine what your own family must seem like to someone who hasn't grown up with them - it might help bring back some sympathy for your husband.
Make sure to vow to never ever get roped into spending so much time with your in-laws again without renting your own car - and keep the vow!

Good luck!

All you can really do is wait it out, it isn't like you are staying there forever!! You only have a couple more days! Maybe your husband isn't used to being with his family, so he takes all of the "babying" in and enjoys it while he can....? You seem as if you are a VERY strong woman, and I'm sure you will get through it!

Gee, what a shame "that time of the month" crept up on you! My, my, my do you think somebody could take you to the grocery store for some "supplies"? And it's really terrible how those nasty ole cramps are getting you down. Maybe while you're at the store you can pick up some magizines and books, suduko, word search etc... and hide out in your room. It's not a great solution but maybe it'll help.
Good luck hon. I've had in-laws that made me crazy so I can totally relate!!! Just keep reminding yourself "This too shall pass!!!"

I share your pain - my in-laws are here at my house though!

Avoidance is good. Pretend to be sick. Spend more time in your room away from everyone. Get a book to read. Do the housework. Weed the garden. Go for a drive.

I have been breaking my time down into shifts - okay, only 4 more hours and it will be bed time. I can cope with that!

Good luck!

Just think....this is how your husband was raised, he really doesn't know any different. What would putting up a fuss actually accomplish? Put others needs ahead of you own and be nice, don't give the in-laws any reason to dislike you, that would put your husband in the middle.

Perhaps you could all go to a movie or movies or play a game like Trivia Pursuit, etc.

Go on a walk, volunteer to take the kids to a movie, etc... etc. Avoidance works really well.
:) Stay sane!
