To anyone who has switched branches and been both a Marine and a Soldier, what did you think? I know everyone's opinions will be different, but, basically, which did you prefer and why? Which branch did you join first? Why did you switch? What was your MOS? If you could do it again, what would you have done? Not saying one branch is better than the other, but people are different and have different wants. I just want to compare answers. Maybe tell me a little about your personality and what you were looking for in the military? The more answers, the better. Thanks!

Just a little background on me personally: I love the sense of pride, brotherhood, discipline, and especially hard work the Corps offers. On the other hand the Army offers things like 68W and airborne school. Were I not female, I would love something like infantry or SF.

My stepfather did both. He prefers the Army, but his values are completely different from mine. He's more concerned about money and being an officer.

If you have any advice for my situation, it would be appreciated, but if not, I'm mostly interested in hearing your stories anyways. Again just to compare.

Follow your dreams. I have known 2 former Marines who were in the Army, both were highly professional though we were pretty sure one was a bit crazy. Neither Branch is better than the other, and you have already done your homework.

I can only pass on my old Platoon Motto; "Go For It"

And thank you for your devotion to our country.

I'm in Army, and I have yet to meet a Marine cross-over (out of six) who prefers the Army to the Marine Corps.
