Are they god's favorite and why does he discriminate?

I just picked up a book where the author asked these questions and clames to have the answer. I don't have a clue myself.

He didn't do any such thing. One nation wrote a book saying that they are special, it is a bunch of nonsense.

If you are referring to the Jewish people then you need further edification and even then I have a felling you will run smack dab into a wall going full throttle.

God choose the children of Israel as the conduit from which Christ would be born, no other reason, well that and they where a obstinate people and He had compassion for them. What better example to offer grace and perfection than through an imperfect being?

Now gird up your loins and walk like a man!

Haven't you ever been chosen by a parent or teacher and were made an example of, so they could use you to show others what not to do or to show what happens to those who disobey?

Same with the Nation of Israel.

The good thing is God the Father still shows his love and forgiveness to all His children.

Israel was supposed to be a nation of priests to show God's glory and to bring knowledge of him to the rest of the nations. They were blessed to be a blessing to the whole world.

Genesis 12:2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

3And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Exodus 19:5 If therefore you will hear my voice, and keep my covenant, you shall be my peculiar possession above all people: for all the earth is mine.

6And you shall be to me a priestly kingdom, and a holy nation. Those are the words thou shalt speak to the children of Israel.

That is the role of believers today, by the way.

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

You left out, AND THEN BROUGHT IT "DOWN." For about 1827 years Israel did not exist. That "special" nation now happens to be America, and the "choices" are not up to God, that happens to be in "whom" the peoples choose to WORSHIP. Though imperfect worshipers, this nation still happens to revere the Lord in heaven in it's PRAYERS much more than any other NATIION.

You are misusing the scripture. When the Bible says God is no respecter of persons, it is in reference to an instruction to the early church that they are not to treat rich people better than the poor people. You are a poor student of the Bible. That one's no-brainer.

Hey, SOMEONE had to bear the Savior's bloodline. So God 'chose' the lowest, smallest, stubbornest nation to prove His power could overcome ANYTHING.

They are His chosen people. Not being a respecter of persons has more to do with His sense of righteousness. They too are subject to the wages of sin being death unless they receive the free gift of grace offered by Christ.

I'm going to start walking around and saying "I'm one of God's chosen people." Just to float my own boat and raise my ego. Because I can. Who wants to join me?

And thus, the legend was born.

He chose them for a particular purpose, not as special in the more general sense.
