a "whipping" is usually what most parents who spank call it esp when tryin to scare them. i say this to my children and use it only as a last resort. only for something very severe.
example i have constantly told my child to stay out of the street, yet i caught him sitting in the street playing with his dump truck, i had grounded him, i put him in time out , and i took priviledges away, yet he continued to disobey me. when i caught him in the street i said "im gonna give u a whipping now" i spanked hin on his butt with 3 licks, he has not got in the street again. i had to do this to teach him a lesson one he would remember so that he would be safe.

Yes and no.
Whipping is one of many punishments that are useful. If your going to whip the child, don't do it hard until he/she bleeds. Just do it to help them straighten out their attitude. When you whip your children, they will know that you are in control. It also helps built respect especially for later years.

You don't have to whip them all the time. You can embarasse them. The pain will only last 5-10 mins. Its not that effective. When you embarrase them it lasts a long time, plus they won't do the same thing twice ;)

I believe whipping is a great punishment, but there are other alternatives. Pampering them and giving the time out doesn't work, and they will likely do more trouble. It will be bad for both you and the child.

Every cause has an effect. If you have sex, you will more then likely get pregnant. (Even with the evils of "the pill", you still can be with child). I am Catholic, I am Pro-Life, I know and love (not sexual, but love from the heart) many people who have had an abortion. It is neither up to me nor any pro-life person to judge anyone, but if they truly love you, they will warn you when you are about to sin. True love wants what is best for the other. Our messed up secular society is so far from God and His love that most people see kids has a punishment, a truly religious person sees kids for what they truly are, a blessing from God. The Bible says that through motherhood you can be brought closer to God. Know God and know happiness. If you know anyone who is pregnant, abortion will not solve the problems, it just adds to it. Scientific studies prove that abortion can lead to cancer and there is such a thing as post abortion depression syndrome. (Forgive me, I know I have the name wrong, but that’s close.) If a pregnant lady cannot take care of the child, I know of several couples who cannot have children and would love to adopt a baby. Having a baby is not a punishment, nor do any pro-life people that I know, would say it is a punishment. Babies are a blessing. Abortion leaves one dead & one wounded, if you must choose, “choose life”. Deuteronomy 30: 19 - I call heaven and earth today to witness against you: I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live. (I will pray for you.)

Not necessarily. I think it depends on the crime and the child. I feel it should also be used as a last resort. And I don't think any child should get a whipping without a lecture to fully understand why they are being punished. The whole point of punishment of any kind is to teach a child that there are consequences to their actions.

You know what I had been paddled on beaten with a belt many times when I was younger and I would never consider that child abuse. My step sister had never had a whipping in her life and I'm the one that is better disiplined as an adult.

My parents used a paddle on me growing up. I'm a junior in school now so they use other punishment, but when I was younger the paddle was their preferred choice. I think whipping as you call it is OK for serious offenses or when other punishment/talking does not work.

No. If a child doesn't know what they are doing is wrong, then they are too young and shouldn't be hit for learning.

If a child is old enough to know what they are doing is wrong, then they are old enough to be talked to.

Why did they do it when they knew they shouldn't?
Or why do they keep doing it?

If you spank then you never find out why and you never get to the source of the problem and therefore never solve the problem.

Gee, Im only 18 and what great logic I have.

A "whipping" should never be considered as a punishment for a child or anyone else. If you need help controlling children, please look into attending parenting classes. Raising a child can be overwhelming, there are many organizations that can help you get through a trying time.

Whipping!? NO!
A spanking if appropriate and delivered in a responsible manner, but a whipping? Isn't that illegal or something?
