In the next several years analog-only TVs will not get any signals. People who have cable service will still be able to watch programs since the cable companies can give them signals for their analog TVs. People who use just an antenna will not see any picture on their analog TV.

Unless you are a cable viewer the answer is yes you will have to buy a digital TV or a set-top box that converts digital broadcasts to analog.TV

You will need to buy an adaptor to plug your antennae in to plug into the tv. You antannae will pick up the digital signal, probably already is based on your area (a lot of larger metro areas are already broadcasting in digital). Your tv just doesnt get the digital signal. Since all stations are still broadcasting in analogue as well, you have no issues currently recieving the broadcast channels. I dont know if the converter boxes are already available in stores, but they will be by that time, for sure. There are also newer antennaes coming out designed to receive the digital signal better.

For people who have a cable box, they wont have to do anything because the cable box is already doing it.
