can you decide right now to be gay? And by be gay, I don't mean go have sex with someone who is the same sex as you, but actually be physically attracted to them and could imagine having a long-term relationship with them.

I don't think you can do it, because I think, homosexuality is in your DNA, and can't be consciously changed anymore than your eye color or your personal taste in food.

And who would choose to be one of the most hated a persecuted group of people and have your rights taken away?

So... can you choose to be gay right now? Can you? Do it just to prove it.

I'm someone who falls into the category of 'bisexual', though I don't like the term.
But basically, I am attracted to both sexes, depending on their personality and looks and the chemistry we have together. Their gender doesn't really enter into it. I can't choose to stop having crushes on certain girls anymore than I can make myself like onions, which is my least favorite vegetable.

"Rickster:, if homosexuals just want attention, why do so many of them keep their attractions a secret and stay in the closet and never tell people? It's not for attention, its because they are afraid of people like you.

神への信念:

For people who are homosexual and live in a country or state that doesn't let them marry, they don't get the same rights when it comes to inheritance, hospital visits, legal adoption, etc with their partner.

I think your statistics are skewed. It's been proven that being molested or having a bad breakup isn't the cause of homosexuality. Merely the cause of mental corruption.

It is a choice. You can choose to be good or bad, you can choose to become an alcoholic or drug addict, you can choose to rape, and etc. Just because your parents were alcoholics does not mean you have to be, just because your parents used drugs doesn't mean you have to be. Life comes down to choices and it has nothing to do with DNA.

You're right we can opt on not having sex at all or in the worst case have hetero sex just to sustain an image but that's the only decision here. The instincts, feelings, guts won't change. There are no solid researches on this all of them ended up inconclusive on both ways: the ones saying it's an option and the others saying it's innate. There are some genetic researches though that indicates most gays have an specific combination of genes. What's not proved yet is why some "heteros" also have it but can't accept gay sex as an option.

i think gays/lesbians/bisexuals/transgendered are among the most beautiful, smart, and fantastic people on this earth. i am bisexual, and i try to love and appreciate everybody. so, i don't teach the writings of the bible, which don't show women leaders, say people get skin disorders because they are being punished, shows homophobic tendencies, my goodness. teach love. not hate. i know what it is like to hide who i am, and also to hide where i stand. i think its not a choice, but who i am. hate is ruining the world. destroying humanity. look at the american history, the killings, beatings, lynches, rapes, separation of families. to divide and conqueor seriously. it isn't a choice, its what i think, what i love, what i like. i wouldn't choose it with all the discrimination. i don't choose to be black. its the way i came. i don't choose to be a woman. its the way i came.

There is no proof that homosexuality is genetic. But I won't say it's a choice either. Sexual attraction is a black bix, so to speak. Many factors are involved in attraction - who can explain it fully? I doubt it's possible. Can I change what I find to be the most sexually attractive or fulfilling? No. The only thing I can control is my activity.

The Church accepts Same Sex Attraction, and considers it to be a disordered sexuality. What the Church considers to be a sin is the participation in homosexual acts. Indeed, the Church believes that all should be chaste unless married. So, those of us who are unmarried are called, along with our non-heterosexual brothers and sisters, to refrain from sexual activity, even if we remain unmarried until death at an old age.

No, these are not easy teachings to accept, but I hope you can understand the view of the Catholic Church in these matters.

From what you describe, yes, that is correct.

That is probably why when it is a choice and it can be in some circumstances, it can be at least conidered a pandering vice akin to avarice or gluttony, done soley for gratifications sake.

This is an interesting topic. It is said that the brains of homosexuals are different than those who are heterosexual; therefore that is why they are gay. I have spoken to many gay people and almost every single one was molested as a child. Or they had a very bad relationship with the opposite sex and after the relationship ended started to date people of the same sex. And then the rest had experiences in high school or college and that changed their sexual orientation. I don't know...

You can control your behavior, but not your attractions. A gay person can be married and have children in a heterosexual relationship, and never truly be straight. A curious straight person can experiment, and never truly be gay. Sexual orientation is deeply rooted in the wiring. I honestly believe that it is not a choice, possibly genetic.

What, you don't think WE ALL HAVE SINS WE STRUGGLE WITH? We are ALL born in sin. What makes you so different? The difference is we give our sinful desires over to God, and you do not, nor do you want to. God gives you a way out. You choose not to take it. Your choice. Jesus said, "In order to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, you MUST BE BORN AGAIN." If you are born again, you will have a new heart, and become a new creature in Christ. He will take away all your sinful desires of the flesh. You are given over to self-seeking pleasure, instead of God seeking truth.
Some people who are born are more prone to be alchoholics than others, and if they give themselves over to it, they will become alcoholics. Some people are weaker in other ways. All of us are in need of a Savior. I am also speaking of myself. He delivered me from a life of drugs, alcohol, and sinful living. If I didn't have Jesus in my life, that's what I would be doing to this day. I know because I have been on the other side, and that's why I speak out to others that there is a way out of your sins. there is only one sin there isn't a way out of, and the Bible says it's blaspheming the Holy Spirit. So, if you haven't done that, you can still be saved. Jesus didn't come into the world to condemn it, but to save it. Accept Him, and He will take your burden from you. If you don't believe me, talk to someone who have been saved from a homosexual lifestyle. They are out there, and are telling their stories of how they were saved. Maybe they can convince you, even if I can't. this is about your very soul! Isn't it worth checking it out?? I pray you do. God bless
You don't think Christians are hated and persecuted? We choose to be who we are because we totally believe it to be the truth. Why else would we go through what we do? Why would we want to live our life the way we do? There's a bigger picture here. It's about God, not about me or other Christians wanting you to be saved. It's about God's saving grace He gives to you as a gift, if you will only accept it. Peace be with you.
I don't to choose to be gay because God tells me it's wrong. I try to obey Him, not you or anyone else on this earth. My heart belongs to God, and I couldn't do that because I love Him. It isn't about what I want. It's about seeking righteousness.

Edit: If I tell you that you have a way out, would you take it???

lololol exactly

people cannot just choose to be homosexual right?

its clearly a reaction in our hormones

straight people's hormones react to the opposite sex

homosexuality does it the other way so what?

it is DNA

i dare everyone to try to be gay i mean really try

no matter how much you try a straight person can never attain a feeling for their same sex

is clearly chemical imbalance

I don't believe being gay is a choice but even if it is, who cares? What we do have a choice in is whether or not we should discriminate or kill a minority group of people just because they're different?
