As a Catholic, I don't understand objections to this.. It is not worship.

A prayer called "Hail Mary" is not worship... how do you figure?
The name of that particular prayer has the word "Hail." How come there is so much adoration in the Roman Catholic Church for Mary, when the amount given in the Bible is minute at best? Give Mary her due as the vessel worthy to bear Christ, but beyond that she is a sinner as we all are. Mary needed a savior, read the Bible and you will see this is true.
I read your link and I quote..."Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix."
Do you really believe that she mediates between us and God???? Does she then usurp Christ in this capacity according to your religion?

Vain repetition is the problem. It is very clear from the Bible that this practice is NOT acceptable.
"But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking." -Matthew 6:7
Please look at this web page, it gives a very illustrative explanation. http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/False%20Religions/Roman%20Catholicism/vain_repetitions.htm
Please know that I am not intending to offend you or other Catholics. You did ask, and the objection (one of) to it, is because the scriptures are very clear.
Edit: Are there ANY sincere Catholics (perhaps you are one) who have a PROBLEM with the FACT that Catholicism is completely and historically ROOTED in PAGAN WORSHIP?
None of you seem to mind about the CHRISTMAS ORIGINS, well fine, but if you, as a sincere person care at all about TRUE and PURE worship of the God of the BIBLE, then HOW CAN A REASONABLE PERSON IGNORE THESE FACTS about YOUR BLESSED SACRED HOLY VIRGIN MOTHER OF GOD.........MARY!!!???
If you don't care that the "CHURCH" once AGAIN INCORPORATED PAGAN IDOL WORSHIP into YOUR SO-CALLED TRUE RELIGION and "stole/borrowed the Pagan worship of ISIS, then you can just remain one lost puppy, but IF you want the TRUTH about the matter, then PLEASE, OPEN YOUR EYES!!! Forget your links, and look at THIS one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiC03-TU5mw

Praying to Mary is the same as praying to a sinner. Mary was NOT perfect! She was NOT the Savior of the world and thus, cannot save anyone. Mary even called referred to Jesus as her Savior, so if she needed a Savior, how could she be perfect like Jesus? Prayer IS a form of worship as well, so praying to Mary is the same as worshipping her as a 'god'. The Roman Catholics take the verse of out context where she says she will be called 'blessed' among women. She was blessed - or chosen among women by God to give birth to Christ - NOT blessed in the sense that she was made perfect! She did NOT die on the cross for sins, so therefore, she is NOT the Savior of the world, she didn't perform miracles as Christ did (because she couldn't), she couldn't heal the sick and blind as Christ did, and she cannot forgive sins - only God can pardon our sins.
Luk 1:41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
Luk 1:42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
Luk 1:46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
Luk 1:47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior.

The Bible never includes praying to or through Mary,
Jesus' mother. We pray directly to God the Father,
or Jesus Christ, the Son. There is to be no go-betweens,
neither priests, pastors, angels, prophets, or Christians.
Jesus taught us how to pray, "Our Father, which art in
heaven" etc.

Jesus is the mediator between God and man. So why would you pray to a middle man? Also praying to anyone but God is a sin. The first commandment says God is a jealous God and to not put any strange gods before Him. Praying to Mary is not praying to God. Neither is praying to any of the dead saints.

Jesus died to give us direct access to the throne of God. We don't need to pray via Mary. Mary is just like one of us. God never intended for her to be a go between for us. Mary herself realized she was just a vessel that God used to enable Jesus to be born as the Scriptures foretold.
