It's hard without knowing exactly what you have. May I assume by light box you really mean light tent? Try placing two lights at opposite 45 degree angles to each side of the box and up a bit aiming downwards.

Try putting a light source behind the object. For example, if you have an item on a table, place a lamp on the floor between the table and the wall so that the wall is illuminated. That will significantly reduce shadows.

Keep your main light away from your subject - the closer it is the more quickly the light will drop off. Diffusion will help in the form of a softbox. After that use reflectors to bounce light back into your subject to reduce the shadows further.

Use a super flash, seperate from the camera. You can set it up wherever the best angle is and it totally eliminates shadows if you do it right.

Have you tried putting lights all around the item?

Softer light? Diffuse the light source?
