Ok I'm here in New York for the holidays and my boyfriend [he's in Miami ]has become really obsessive with me for the past few months. I really don't want to be with him because to get straight to the point he's a bum. No job. No school. Living with his parents at 22. Gave him many chances for him to change but never did. I'm fed up. I was just thinking of sending him a letter the relationship is over and changing my cellphone number. Should I even feel bad?

I think you could tell him in person or on the phone that it's over. A letter does seem a bit cold. I don't think you should feel bad about it . . . he just isn't the kind of guy you want to settle down with. If he was at least making an effort I could understand, but that clearly isn't happening here. Good night!

Perhaps part of the reason he's become obsessive with you is because he knows you're a good catch and that he is lacking in many areas. If he's 22, I'm assuming you're around the same age, which means you are still young. Don't settle for less than you're worth. If he's really obsessive, I wouldn't meet with him in person to break up. When you return home, call him on the phone and tell him that while you were away, you had a chance to do some soul searching and the relationship is not something you want to move forward with in 2008. Once you finish this "brief" conversation with him, do not take any more of his calls. If you do, you will give him false hopes in believing that there's still a chance.

Good luck.

It's hard to know what's a good way, if he's obsessive it could be tough to get rid of him. I had that situation and he bothered me - then my friends and family. So talk to people and let them know (if they don't already) that he's been a problem and you're breaking up with him. We actually had to report my to the police for some of the things he did. So do what you must and make sure to be prepared for a hard time, obsessions don't always end easily. Good luck, you're probably doing the right thing by following your instincts.

Well, if he is obsessive...maybe it might be a good idea. A letter is pretty cold though. You might just want to give him a call at least. In person is the best but you said he was obsessive. You can block his number though.

girl
u have to talk to him face to face
and if u send him a letter saying its over then
that is low very low!!
an u shouldnt call him an tell him its over cuz that is also very low!!
u have to call him when u get back sayin that
"we need to talk!"
and then tell him where u 2 should meet an u should meet in a public place so that he has to wait until he is alone to react and when ur done saying its over between u too
change ur number and go on with ur life
