Religion is a buisness. And what better buisness the telling people they will be damned if they don't pay up? Couldn't they just pray at home? I mean god can hear everything right?

It is not so much the book as it is the content. People need to believe in something and most holy books are readily accessible and cater to the lowest common denominator. That is why they are so popular.
In 100,000 years you have to ask if Harry Potter was important enough to create a religious movement. I have yet to see anything in the last 100 years, other than maybe the odd theory that will be important enough to carry humanity in 100,000 years.

Damian,
I was not "Raised on it" as another answerer said. I studied a number of different religions and then had a Bible study and was Baptized as was my wife. I believe that the BIBLE is our FATHER'S WORD. I doubt that Harry's Potter will survive another 10 years. Have a great week.
Thanks,
Eds

When it come to the bible, at 2007 after Christ, it has been in circulation in the world 396 years, I wonder what is the population of the world that truely does believe in the bible, [ millions believe in 1000's of religions ].
Is the bible the same as religions, or different?

Because they were raised on it.
Sort of like, kids that start smoking, get hooked and many of them can't kick the habit in adulthood.

I suggest that you try reading the bible. Pray each time before or after your reading. Best wishes.
