i have my video camera hooked up to my computer by a usb plug but it does nothing. When i try to open up windows movie maker and hit capture video, it comes up with an error that it doesnt have anything connected or something like that. why doesnt this work/what do i need. i want to put like dumb videos on youtube or something lol

You need to get a firewire connection to transfer video. For some reason, the firewire cable is an expensive option.

The makers think you must want to transfer to VHS tape, because you have a connection for that (A/V).

It's a rip off...

I hope your computer has firewire, otherwise you'll need to do some upgrading there too...
