How do you tell if you like someone?
I mean, how do you fell when you look at the person you like? Especially if they're a friend.
This guy at my lunch table told me he liked me and I told him I only liked him as a friend, but now I regret saying that, because now I think I like him.
But, my mum thinks I'm just getting wrapped up in that feeling of him liking me. And my friends are giving me crappy advice when I ask them this, so, shoot.

Well, if you like him, you probably have sexual feelings of some sort about him. (Not that you should have sex with him or anything any time soon, but that is the most reliable criteria.) Nobody else can make that judgment for you.
If you like him, just go hang out with him. And you might also tell him that you actually like him too. You're going to have to take a bit of initiative here, because you shot him down. Good night!
And as for "going with your first instinct", that's bull. Especially if you're inexperienced. Sometimes instincts will serve you well, and sometimes they will not. Instinctual reactions are based on what you perceive. If what you perceive at first is not the way things really are, then you will be prone to having bad instincts.

Sometimes it is because you know they like you. It just makes you think twice about them. You have to go with your first instinct, no regrets.
