No, it's not haram. Sugar is in most foods and is used as a preservative. Many foods that don't seem to be obvious sources of sugar actually are.
This comment is not entirely accurate- "If a person who has diabetes knows their body is sensitive and sugar causes harm for them then it is haram for them to consume sugar."
Even diabetics NEED sugar, whether it be in the form of pure sugar or complex carbohydrate, which break down into sugar when digested. I count every gram of sugar and/or carbs I consume and I am allowed to have a certain amount with every meal. Sugar and carbs are the body's source of energy. Deliberately consuming too much could be considered haram, I am sure... but being diabetic and consuming moderate amounts of sugar IS allowed. Ask a diabetes educator, nutritionist, any MD or diabetic of you think I am wrong...

This is one question that I will explain to you. All food that is halal (including sugar), can be eaten by the Muslims. But , if one is wavering in the mind if whether the food is halal or haram, then, even the halal food becomes haram if one is to consume.

okay i can understand the horse meat questions and the marshmellow questions but again has i have stated before islam doesnt prohibit everything! why on earth you would not be allowed to eat sugar? unless it has some werid alcohol porkish favoring, but good luck finding that!!
Jenn: the thing is with your answer, there are people with diabeates that have low blood sugar, then they will pass out then they MUST have sugar. and if a diabetic that has problems w/ too high of a blood sugar doesnt eat any sugar, than the same occorance will happend, HUMANS CANT LIVE WITH OUT SUGAR, i dont know where you got this information from, carbohydrates are made of sugar and they are the building blocks over everyone diets, maybe that wasnt the best example to give for that situation.

I don't believe it s haram, but... the prophet Mohamed (pbuh) warned us to becareful from the '2 whites' which are sugar and salt. He warned that we should not eat too much because of the reasons proven today in medical findings... too much sugar leads to diabetes and too much salt leads to high blood pressure... and m sure more things like obesity to name another.

Are you kidding? Of course not.
by the way, it could be haraam if you have diabetes and you eat a lot of sugar when you know that it hurts you. You would be like commiting suicide which is haram. Allah doesn't want you to hurt yourself.
Peace

if it is only sugar, plain sugar, then okay.. or if it is mixed with something dangerous then it is haram
also: if it can intoxicate you then you have to avoid it
eat well but eat properly, don't be greedy in eating
edit: i just have found this wisdom:
Words of Wisdom
Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم ) said:
"(There are) four (qualities) of which if, the world in its
entirety passed you by there will be no blame on you if you
attained them:
..'Iffatul Mat'am: Abstinence concerning consumption of
food.'"*
*The meaning of 'iffatul mat'am' is:
a) that one does not nourish one's self with the haraam,
b) or that which is not nutritious,
c) nor with that which possesses something doubtful
d) or increases the intake beyond what is sufficient to
sustain one's self even if it is from the halaal,
e) nor should one overeat.

Diabetes is usually treated through a combination of diet (low sugar), exercise and medications/insulin. Read here https://tr.im/5DNNl
Milder cases can be controlled with just diet an/or exercise while more severe cases require meds or insulin as well.
