In Puerto Rico there is a small island off of the east coast called 'Vieques' that has a black sand beach. Its cool b/c it is very secluded. You can take a ferry for $4 R/T to Vieques from Puerto Rico. Vieques & Culebra are also known as the 'spanish Virgin Islands' & whats cool about Vieques is you can go to a black sand beach & then head over to a white sand beach or a tan sand beach. Very lovely.

Also on the main island in PR, Barceloneta is said to have black sand beaches. Otherwise I'd say try Hawaii or something more pacific with volcanoes. :)
