Ok I'm probally gonna get hate mail but my opinion on this is:
People say everyone is Sons of Adam Daughters of eve.. which would make us all brothers and sisters. Well while we are alive, obviously we are not (or everyone would be incessed). But when we get to heaven we are nothing but souls. We are all brothers and sisters and the people that didn't make it are fallen souls... So I believe you would not have any recollection of your life before just being a soul in heaven.. but who really knows huh? I mean it all depends on how you are raised.

Your right, in heaven no tears would fall, and when your in heaven you will always be happy and god will bless you with everything your heart desires. Also there will be no sadness, so therefore you will forget about all your love ones so your not sad if they didn't make it. God doesn't want anyone to be unhappy in heaven and on earth. If you want to find out more about how the world is gonna end you should read the book of revalations in the back of the bible. (what heritage r u, and what kind of bible do u have?) not tryin 2 get personal.

A very difficult question no mainstream Christian or Muslim can answer without seeming (or in my view, being) unmerciful, un-loving and cold-hearted.

People must have assumed their family and themselves would all get to heaven with them. Everybody's happy to condemn Hitler and 'other people' to somewhere other than heaven, but not their 'own' people.

It would be interesting to see what elderly fundamentalist parents would think if their only child commited suicide. Wouldn't be nice to be in heaven when the only one you truly loves isn't with u and never will be.

Why should God wipe away all our memories in heaven? What's the point of living this life in the first place if in the end none of it counts other than getting a 'pass/fail' mark without even realising you're there? Perhaps people will be in hell and they won't even know why they're there either.

You may derive comfort from this quote by Jeremy Taylor of the Church of England:

"Husbands shall see their wives, parents shall see their children tormented before their eyes... the bodies of the damned shall be crowded together in hell like grapes in a wine-press, which press on another till they burst..."

But don't worry! According to the Scottish preacher Thomas Boston in 1732, he says that even "God shall not pity them but laugh at their calamity. The righteous company in heaven shall rejoice in the execution of God's judgement, and shall sing while the smoke rises up forever".

I have also asked that same question myself. I know what you're fear is, and it's also mine. It's really scary as hell just to think that someone you love and care about doesn't make it to heaven. It's scares me a lot because I believe in hell. Hell exists. When the Blessed Virgin appeared to the 3 kids in Fatima, she showed them what hell looks like and they shook with fear. Of course, my worrying about the fate of others doesn't mean I'm already confident that I'm going to heaven when I die. It's just that, I can't help but be concerned about others whom I also love.

My take on your question (which is mine too) is that why wait for all of us to die and attain our absolute fate? While we are still alive, let us do something to help that someone we love. Guess what, that is what I'm going through right now, and it's really tough as hell (but at least it's not hell yet). There is HOPE while we're still alive. Let's do our best. Prayers do MIRACLES. Let's not lose our Faith.

If you get there you will be changed. No longer with earthly feelings but with heavenly feelings.
Ever heard this statement: 'His ways are higher than our ways? Well, we will also be living on this higher plain away from what we are experiencing right now....would this not be great?
Become truly born again by the water and the Spirit and you will become a holy and sinless child of God and be allowed to enter His kingdom.

Is the number 144,000 merely symbolic?

The answer is indicated by the fact that, after mention of the definite number 144,000, Revelation 7:9 refers to “a great crowd, which no man was able to number.” If the number 144,000 were not literal it would lack meaning as a contrast to the “great crowd.” Viewing the number as literal agrees with Jesus’ statement at Matthew 22:14 regarding the Kingdom of the heavens: “There are many invited, but few chosen.”

Do those of the “great crowd” referred to at Revelation 7:9, 10 also go to heaven?

Revelation does not say of them, as it does of the 144,000, that they are “bought from the earth” to be with Christ on heavenly Mount Zion.—Rev. 14:1-3.

I believe that God in His mercy will wipe away the memory of all those who didn't make it, including parents, children, grandparents etc.

Rv:7:17: For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Rv:21:4: And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Hence why heaven is dumb and just a fairy tale.

How could anyone spend eternity happy while their friend/lover/sibling/relative is burning in hell?

When you think about it, heaven doesn't make sense, because it's not possible for people to be in hell and the people in heaven to be happy.

Unless heaven is as the westboro baptist church preaches, in which case I suppose they will all be "happy" and we'll all be in hell. Partying.

Yes. We will receive the greatest consolation. We will know without a shadow of a doubt that those who did NOT make it to heaven will NOT have any excuse.

GOD bless

I have though of it several times...
Especially, when I was younger, I used to say to my parents to be good, in order to go to paradise, so that I could meet them there...
Maybe, there, we won't remember anything of our previous life in earth, which is quite bad, but in this way surely, we won't cry, as we won't remember anyone of our family
