I know that Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) told us not to get angry. However, I have a big problem with anger. I get angry very fast and I get rude sometimes. I don't use 'strong' swear words but I say annoying things, like you are closed minded, you are stupid, annoying, retarded and I shout loudly. When I get angry at home, I hit my siblings. I can't control my anger. I used to take stress med but I stopped it because it gave me headaches. I don't know what to do with anger.

Any advice you can offer me?

Thank you

Salaam

Imagine you are a mirror.. shiny reflective and also see through.. imagine at a moment when something is set to anoy you that you will let it be reflected Through the mirror that you are ..do not let it register within your mind as it will cloud your thoughts and take controll off your mind.. now at the same time use no judgement on what you see.. judge not a thing let your mind be a blank and without emotion and then imagine nothing but light reflecting back from within your mind... try it and see how much inner peace you will find to exist

Anger is from Shaytan and so seek refuge from him. Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) said "Sit if you are standing when you get angry, lye if you are sitting". Another narration says: "Seek reguge from Shaytan. Shaytan was created from fire. So take ablution. If the anger does not subside, bath in cold water."

Practice Thahajjud salat (at lease 2 rakat) during the last part of night and make dua. Seek refuge from Shaytan after the salat and also make dua for mental tranquility. By this you can get rid of anger gradually.

salaam!
to be in control of any situation is hard. it requires effort. thus, see this problem of yours as something you are going to master. Maybe Allah has a purpose for this. so in the next seven days, whenever you get angry try to calm yourself by focusing on something else. then if you have achieved that level, you can reward yourself. I have the same problem. whenever i get angry due to several annoying habits of others, i try to stop talking. sulking is better than verbal expression of anger. then that person may realize that you are sulking b/c you are angry. i know it is very easy to just blabber out your anger. but it is better to just stop thinking about the situation. if you can't do that, at least stop talking. or just ignore that anger causing person.

I usually walk away from the situation and say over and over again: "Aotho Bellah Mena Shaytan Erajeem" until I can be calmer and rationalize clearly. I try to remember that Shaytan comes in all forms and will find any way to win and make us do bad things.

I also say this when I am in an uncomfortable situation. I recently went to a church because a Christian childhood friend of mine died suddenly and traumatically and that is where the family had decided to allows friends and family to pay their respects. Something there made me extremely uncomfortable and I felt like running out the door, but I also felt I needed to express my sympathies to his family. Saying this over and over in my head helped me get through it all.

i know how you feel and I can't blame you for that, for you take the slightest offense seriously, but worry not for that excess energy can be channeled to something better and more fulfilling endeavor. It's like the greatest sinners has the potential to be a great saint or vice versa.
There is a saying too, that the greatest military general is not one who can conquer vast armies but one who can control his anger.
Angers can be lessened or avoided by having enough sleep, avoiding foods or drinks high in sugar like sodas, intoxicants. And best to avoid anger is to pray to allah swt and beg for guidance.

I can't say that I'm expert to handle my anger, sometimes I get lost and satan wins over me.
I just can share what I usualy do.
1. take breath and try to be relax
2. mirror! see that my face is very bad when I'm angry, and see that I look good when I smile.
3. take wudu, ask Allah to protect me from satan's temptation
4. remember that nobody is perfect, no one wants to hurt others and try to have positive thinking

Humans act on two emotions: love and fear. Then sub-emotions branch off the two. In the end all your negetive feelings surface because you are scared of something. In this case it seems you are terrified of losing control. You have low self-esteem, so you use control to define who you are. When you lose control, you lose yourself. Know that Allah made you who you are because Allah makes no mistakes. When you can accept that, and then embrace that great knowledge, you will no longer have to worry about fear. If Allah is for you, who can be against you? Salam Alaikum

Lahol wala quwatta illa billahil alliyul adheem,,, is the best remedy. plus anger is something Allah and his messenger Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) doesn't like, so when ever you get angry just remember that you might be displeasing Allah. which is indeed the worse. so try to get hold of your feelings as only you are the person who could control it~! :)
