The beer belly is a myth. It came to be since many men traditionally drank a lot of beer, and men tend to store their fat around their waist rather than women whom tend to store it in their thighs and butt.
The calorie content of all alcoholic beverages is directly related to it's alcohol content since that is relative to the amount of sugars, fermented or residual, in the drink. It does take a greater quantity of beer to become intoxicated but the calorie comparison given serving sizes between various alcoholic beverages in marginal.
Your drinking habits are to blame for any gut you obtain.
In direct response to your question I would say that beer would be the more likely culprit but only by a very small lead.

Beer i suppose because of the yeast in it. Wine not to sure i hate the taste. I would stick with wine if i liked the taste because I'm pretty sure it does not give you a big gut, beer on the other hand does.

Beer...think it has more calories and you tend to drink more of it. Luckily, I have no gut!
