What would it hurt for athiests to beleive in God? all that you think happens when you die is you just cease to exsist right? well, if the christian stuff is real, then when you'd die, you would go to live in paradise. If it is real, and you die as a non-believer, you would go to hell and be in fear FOREVER. that's all i ask is, what does it hurt?

God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil.

Oh great Pascal's wager again. I can't do that, honey. Even if you gave me a lobotomy I couldn't walk around saying I believe in god just to be on the safe side. I would have to have multiple personalities in order to do that. So far I think I have all my marbles. My mind seems to be whole and strong even if my body is starting to fail me.

It would mean giving up rational thought, something that is very valuable to me. Second, any god that would accept belief based on threat of punishment is immoral and would not deserve any worship whatsoever.

Don't forget, that reasoning works just as well for Islam. Since the Holy Q'uran describes a very unpleasant hell, you should be Muslim. Just in case.

Thank you for restating Pascal's Wager for the billionth time. So God would be just as pleased with non-meaningful, "safety" belief as he would be with genuine, true belief?

And for the Christmas drink!

If you take belief in God as an insurance policy, you are a self seeking hypocrite.

Pascal's wager seems to be a mantra for you Christians. Please, try to realize you are asking someone to believe in something that they have no beliefs in. To ask someone to believe in something they see as Imaginary is ludicrous and inane. I could no more force myself to do that than than you could make yourself jump off a cliff.
