so this is what always happens when i have a good dream...
first, i always realize that I am dreaming, and I desperately try to stay in... however, things start to fade rapidly or there are spurts of blackness that randomly flash, and then the dream reappears ...creepy stuff... what's happening here and how do i stop it? is there even a way?

hm....perhaps when you realize that you're dreaming, you're about to have a lucid dream, but the realization that you're dreaming wakes you up a bit, and then you lose track of the dream for a bit.......You say that you "desperately try to stay in" Maybe the realization that you are dreaming makes you tense up when you realize that you're dreaming, and trying to stay in the dream, and the tension is what does it. I guess you could try some relaxation exercises or meditation as you go to sleep, or perhaps try talking to yourself as you drift off, and tell yourself that when you realize that you're dreaming you will remain calm, and find it easy to stay in the dream....

Hi Jart,

Looks like you are experiencing a form of lucidity..... It's when you realize that you are in the dream and try to take steps within it to maintain your place......

However, when you get that "I'm there" moment, the shock of realizing you are in that particular state of mind, causes you to lose your place as you are also beginning to wake at the same time.......

We seldom stay in a lucid dream for long......

You need to have faith in yourself so that you can maintain whatever it is you are seeking to do here......

I also get the impression that there is something missing from you here, too..... Your memories..... You have short term memory problems......... ("spurts of blackness" - "random flash")..... these indicate the mind is searching for something to think on........Trying to remember - so there are spurts of light and darkness - this is understanding......

You are running out of energy in your dreams, so you can not maintain them at times. You may be overusing your psychic energy, and burning out at times in your dreams. Exercise, and a good diet, along with an effort not to take on too much emotionally, may help. Meditation could help you keep a better focus. You may have a temperament that does not want to leave anything before it is complete.
