I like to play alternative, grunge, blues, jazz, classic rock, hard rock, progressive, and metal. A few of my favorite bands are Pink floyd, Led zeppelin, U2, Rush, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Guns N' Roses, Pearl Jam, Metallica, Oasis, Coldplay, The Beatles, Audioslave etc. There's too much to count. What amp should I get? The cheaper the better, but if it's going to cost a lot I'd still like to know. And if there is an amp combo I can get that has a variety of tones and sounds, then that'll work too. My friend is also selling a Marshall full stack with an MG 100HDFX head for $500 bucks, but I'm not sure whether I should get it or not if I can get something that's better.

This is kind of like asking which car you should buy. The answer is what do YOU like? You need to go and plug in your guitar into the amplifier you are trying and see if you like the sound. I own 23 amplifiers (I'm a collector of sorts) - they are all different. Try out as many different amplifiers as you can, and then go for the one that YOU like.

Fender Twin Reverb. Nothing is better. All tube 1965 remake. 2, 12" speakers, 85 watts. It's a killer. Just bought one. I'm in heaven.
