This is the seventh painting I've done in this series and I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to be conveying in this painting. So perhaps you guys can figure it out.

(It's a portrait, tastefully done, of a sitting nude woman. If a little nudity in art bothers you then you might not want to open the link.)

For the rest of you:

And Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

There were some very nice, sincere, even profound replies here and I thank you all. Still, YA will let us chose only one 'best' answer. If it were up to me three of you would share 'best' answer.

She is pensive. She has spent the evening alone studying some arcane writings & having a little wine. What she has read has caused her to reflect back on her own life situation. She is neither sad or happy, but rather has set the mood with her reading for some rare clarity into her life without the judgment calls. Her appearing naked is metaphor for being totally open with herself at the moment, no hiding, no good, no bad. Just recognition that will lead to acceptance or change.
I know I think outside the box, but this is what I see. It's a great painting, full of the human condition.
Blessings!

I see a woman who is evaluating her life so far and assessing her options. I don't see her as sad, as an alcoholic or read anything sinister into it. She is serious and is assessing the hard truth. Other than that, she is someone who has a really good sense of humor and a no nonsense approach to life.

purely through fact goths paint their nails black and somebody else does it that's no longer goth people immediately think of ur goth. Stereotyping element. purely reason u positioned on it does no longer imply ur goth.

It's a glimpse of her when she thinks she's alone, trying to figure things out. I think its saying that when comtemplating who we really are, we shouldn't isolate ourselves, but offer others a glimpse into who we really are.

She is happy. Why every body wants to see her sad?

she is sad because in the painting you see a half-full bottle of wine, which people tend to drink when they want sex or when they are sad. plus she looks like she wants to kill herself because nobody in the world wants her.

Seems empty and void. Too much competing with the figure in the background. Color scheme is distracting.
