I converted because I could not find truth in protestant churches. I could not feel the presence of the Lord in protestant churches. I converted to Jesus Christ's true Church, the Catholic Church. From the moment I walked thru the doors I could feel His presence and the truth of Him and of His Word

Sometime's conversion is due to problems in life.
Example:
A Catholic that has a divorce and then decides to remarry.
Under the latter condition the remarried individual is not allowed to receive the Eucharist or communion.
This causes a very large hardship since the individual was always able in the past; a feeling of guilt is noted.
The majority of individuals in the above scenario usually become protestant.
They remain Christian but feel more comfortable at a service rather than a Mass.
How they look in the eyes of the Lord is another story, of which i cannot judge.
Perhaps, variables in reference to the initial marriage will come into play to initiate an exception.

I'm non-religous so i've never converted before but I think that people convert to different religions because they might be looking for a religion that fits their beliefs.

I converted from atheism to the Catholic Church, kicking and screaming all of the way.
I didn't search out faith or God. I was secure in my lack of belief in God - I was an atheist for 25 years.
God's grace lead me home. It was not easy to become a Catholic - I come from a family of nonbelievers, and my sister is the only other one who "believes" , and she's a Wiccan.
Go figure.

Greek Orthodox
to Born Again Christian
for unless I am Born Again I shall end up a miserably person
out of fellowship and forgiveness with God
and hell is the destination for all that do not confess that Jesus is Lord and that the Bible is the Word of God and is thus the final Authority
this is not the teaching of the Greek Church, the congregation have no Greek Bible to read and therefore we are taught follow the doctrines of men
But I no more
I live in the Liberty from such things with Christ My Lord

People convert looking to find whatever it is they are searching for. God, family, a sense of purpose, a sense of belong to etc, etc, etc.
