Hi
I had an impacted tooth extracted on the 17th. In about 3 days time I developed a dry socket. I was initially unaware but when it continued to hurt, I went to my dentist. A pack was inserted. I had pretty good temporary relief that lasted for a day. It continues to hurt though now. It is the 25th now.

How long will it take to heal? Can u give me a fair idea at least?

This dry socket thingi is driving me crazy!
Pls help.

Pan15, you have my deepest sympathy. I had my wisdom teeth extracted over about a year's time and all four of them dry socketed on me!!!

It may be uncomfortable but you need to keep it clean by rinsing very thouroughly after every meal (or even snacks). It's the food particles that cause the discomfort. (p.s. don't try eating cornbread, just don't! I know from personal experience!)

If it continues to hurt after three days or so, call your dentist and get some advice. He may have you come in again and repack it.

I don't know how it is now but when I had my sockets packed (almost 40 years ago) that packing tasted nastier than ashes out of an ashtray! LOL!!!

Good luck and again, you have my sympathies.
