i have a severe sore throat and it flares up usually at night time and morning after i wake up. i toook a throat culture test and it came up negative for strep. i have no fever and have not had one in the past 4 days that ive had this sore throat. i cannot determine what it is and i cannot find anything that can soothe the pain of it either. i have been gargling salt and hot water.

If it does not get better after all that its probably mono which requires a visit to the Emergency room or Doctor where strong antibiotics are needed to rid the virus and not to mention 2 blood tests one to identify the virus and the other to see if its defeated. It is a virus that lasts a month until it goes away and it leaves you sore and weak and you cant do any contact sports because of risk of spleen rupture.
But after all that you will be back to normal in no time.

try drinking a cup of hot tea with honey and lemon. Gargle with Listerine or something like that. Tomorrow get Chloraseptic spray.
