Most always a check is good for 6 months. Do nothing with this check, as if it is noticed after depositing, you could be charged a fee for an old check. Instead call your ex-company and explain the situation.

Instead of cashing the check deposit it in your bank account. Even better, deposit it with one or two other checks. It will get processed and if the company and its bank account still exist, it will be paid.

I once received a check from my insurance company for a claim. I forgot about it and found it several years later in a file. It was processed without any trouble. A check does not expire unless it specifically says that it has to be tendered within a specified time period.

If the check is returned to you, then you should go to the company, show it to them and ask them to honor it.

I'd try to deposit it first. Especially if there is no expiration date. Deposit it into an account will be easier then cashing it. They look at detail more when cashing.

I'd try to get the co to rerissue it.
You have no assurance that account is still active. If the account is no longer active, the check would bounce.

Its to late to cash it but you can contact your previous employee and they can issue a new check.

No, they're only good for six months.

Contact them, and ask them to reissue the check.
