We have a Ball Python. A beautiful snake. There's nothing haram about having a pet snake. I think that's just superstition of the elders and has no bearing on Islam. I've never heard of such a thing as equating snakes with the devil. Your elders must have some kind of Christian connection there...

Snakes are wonderful animals, just like all of God's creatures. The Ball Python in particular makes a good pet. Low maintenance and cuddles around your arm to get warm. You should get one when they are about a month or two old, so that they can get used to your scent as they get older.

I am muslim and have heard this too. Sometimes jinn or devils take the form of a snake. I have heard you should not have snakes or lizards.
In any case, just avoid it. Instead why don't you get a couple of fire-bellied toads or a centipede or something? I have a turtle tank with two red eared slider turtles.

If you really want something dangerous and exotic get a pet tarantula.

Personally, I really want a tarantula. ( and spiders are good right?)

I understand your frustration. I really wanted a snake also!

I'm not Muslim, but I can think of a Muslim with a pet snake and Christians like my self who wouldn't want a pet snake. It's probably a regional superstition against them inviting the devil-as that ws the from satan took in the garden of eden. I just don't like snakes...can't see them with out thinking of the india jones movies.
