That's a question that you can get other people's opinions, but to really know the answer you must ask God. I have asked God and have received a witness, through the power and influence of the Holy Spirit, that Joseph Smith is and was Go's prophets. I have also gained a witness that God calls prophets in this day and age, as he did throughout history, and loves us just as much as his children in the times of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, etc.
