When i got my Weimaraner i taught her the word "Hurry" i would use this for when i took her outside. i would wait until she started to go then said hurry. Now when i take her out all i have to do is say hurry and she goes. i would try this with you dog. also if you are leaving him outside by his self he my not go because he is so little. I would stand out there with him to make sure he went. i started training my pup the day i got her (sit, stay, come, leave it, drop it, get out) i dont think it is ever too early but because your pup is so young his attention span is going to be small so i would work with him 5 to 10 mins at a time. also i never played hand to hand with my dog. i always had a toy in my hand when we were playing i think this helped with the nipping and all that puppy biting. Good Luck with your new addition.

It's never too early. The sooner you try to get the ideas in the puppy's head, the better.
As for the housetraining method, it's fine. It's what I did when I had puppies around the house. Sometimes, they don't go, but after a while they get the idea (helps if you have an adult dog around that already knows the routine, I think that helped a lot with raising my puppies)

No, he is never too early to start learning basic manners and behaviours. I wouldn't take him outside for a walk or anything until he was fully vaccinated though. 6 weeks is still very, very young to be away from his mom so you need to pick up on the training that his mom and siblings would have done like bite-inhibition. You can get information about that here:

GO WITH HIM!!! think a toddler learns to use the John by locking him in the bathroom?
and yep all pups nip - ideally his mom & littermates can start the process of teaching him not to - but he's at a diadvantage because he left them at 5 weeks (8 to 12 would have been better - 6-8 weeks would have been legal depending on the state)
easy way to teach him not to nip is what his littermates would do - when he nips yelp OUCH & turn away & ignore him for several minutes.

It's never to early to start training.

That's exactly what your supposed to do when you see a dog pooping in the house.
Leave him out until he goes. Ignore him until he goes potty, then praise him lavishly.

Puppies bite when they play.
To make him stop, say "NO" in a deep, loudish voice and turn your back.
