I actually quit a job once because of that...I'm far too old to tolerate that sort of nonsense and have no desire to work for any company who would have one around.

Personally, I don't think there should be "smart alec" minors wasting your time at work. If they really need or want a job, then they should be expected to behave appropriately. The supervisor needs to be sure they understand this.
I don't work with minors much - although we do job training at our hospital. Many of the kids we get are in a special program for kids at risk. For the most part they do amazingly well. (They WANT to be there, and they want to learn.)
Is there any way you can steer clear of the worst offenders? Try to be a good role model, and don't lower yourself to that immature level.

Are you talking about minor age? Under 18 years old? If so, talk to them like any teenager. Look them in the eyes, calmly tell them what needs to be done, etc. There are many teens out there who need jobs.

What are alec minors? hee hee. If they are that smart, they ought to figure out who they can be droll with and whom they can't. Make it clear to them you are in the latter camp and don't appreciate their humour. On the other hand, consider if you need to lighten up-humour in the workplace builds cameraderie. (You haven't given specifics so it's difficult to gauge your situation...)

Firstly l think you have to realize that they are just that .Minors.We were once there ourselves. With time, good examples set by their peers, and encouragement in the work place,l am sure they will grow up with the respect that we now also give.

Need more details. Just do your job. You're the adult, model appropriate interactive behavior with other co-workers. They will learn eventually.
Teens need to get started somewhere.
More details would help us to give you a more specific answer.

Just be the best you can be and if they keep it up, go their supervisor. They have to learn how to comport themselves on a job and this could be your opportunity to help them do just that.
