I do believe that life begins at conception, for all forms of life that combine sperm and egg! This belief of mine is supported by both biology and my faith (Christianity).

Gametocytes are specialized cells with only one purpose: reproduction of the species. When the necessary sperm (from the male) unites with the correct ovum (from the female) conception occurs. This is true of flowers, trees, fish, birds, cats, dogs, horses, elephants, and yes, people. Unpaired gametocytes (eggs or sperm) do not fulfill their purpose, and die. They cannot support themselves biologically.

At conception (again, plant, animal, or human) the DNA of both sperm and egg unite to form a new individual. Given the proper time, environment, and nutrition, the newly-formed cell will develop, through several stages, into a fully-formed adult. Obviously, this takes longer in humans than it does in, say, a daisy or a cat.

The act of conception creates a new individual that is neither of its parents, but rather a mix of both. This is new life, within its species and various types, unique as an individual.

This is the most hot topic on the planet, in regards to abortion and clinical studies on the "embryo"

Q's raised is how far do they take this "embryo"
we are told it is only to farm them for cures to those who are dying or the very sick, and for a cure for death

When you see that little embro sprouting out fingers and moving of its own self and the heart that beats, surely you must conclude without being irrational, that this is indeed a living creature, with a heart attatched.

Look if it helps, veiw it this way
You use your imagination and think.....
you have just put a fertilised human egg in a petri dish
within a few short days the "thing" gets a heart beat and begins to feed off the Agar in the dish, you must then increase the food supply in order for it to grow enough for you to obtain enough embriotic cells with which to use for culturing into scientific research to create a new elixir for eternal youth, so that mans illnesses MAY one day go away.
Only the little thing and oh so interestingly begins to move and to respond to impulses and stimuli. Then comes the formation into a distinctly visible human, but you need to go a little further as you need more tissue culture, for the "specimen" is indeed tooo small,
Wow and you watch that "thing" grow, by now you think "hey if this was me then I would have chosen out a name for IT already"

But how far do they take this "specimen"

they say it is only to collect tissue samples and DNA and the like

But if I may liken this akin to the cults who presently eat such things World wide
How dare we call ourselves civilised
how dare we even dare to justify such actions

And do not use pathetic excuses it is just a fetus, as that is absurd

But to answer your Question the "fetus" if allowed to grow sufficiently and takes the FIRST breath, then you have got a New Life
this is the disturbing issue, just when will God give the "fetus" a soul
and has science indeed killed such a new life

Clearly, the egg and the sperm are alive separately. When they join a different kind of cell comes alive. That cell begins a process of cell division and differentiation which usually produces mature human fetus.

The phrase "life begins" is too interpretable to be of use. The egg and sperm both employ energy conversion and transfer mechanisms similar to all the other cells in humans. So if a single cell in your left little finger is alive then so are the egg and sperm and the resultant embryo.

I believe life begins at conception, because there is life in the blood. The sperm carries the blood.

Life does begin at conception. Just as bacteria is life. Just as the sperm was before even meeting the egg. Do you have a problem killing ants, or spiders. Where is the line draw on OK to kill, not OK to kill?

The life of an individual organism of any sexually reproducing species begins at the moment of fertilization. That's basic middle school science.

Man- this is going to get me thumbed down into oblivion but here goes: I believe that when a fetus can be sustained and will developmentally progress out side of the womb it is then a second life. Until then, to me it is part of another. Science and technology is rapidly changing the time frame of that criteria.

Of course life begins at the conception. But an embryo of a day isn't a human being with a central nervous system, organs, a heartbeat ... You know, when I bleed (and I do so at least monthly) then there are millions of living cells going to die. There's nothing morally wrong about it, however.

If you think that at conception there's a living human being then I'd advise you not to have an abortion. But please be kind and respect that others may think differently and should have a choice.
