That all depends, I know some girls hide behind their hair, but I've also met girls who tie their hair up because they feel too self concious to have it down, so it really depends on the girl. I personally like it when a girl wears her hair down because I think it makes most girls look pretty. Girls can still look really nice with their hair up but I personally hate it when a girl has one of those really tight ponytails or do that whole thing with their fringe where they have a massive quiff pulled back at the front, it just looks uncomfortable and weird.

Honestly, guys don't judge a girl's confidence by her hair. We don't judge her confidence at all. We just judge her overall looks, and hairstyle is not a big factor.

If having your hair in a ponytail makes you feel more confident, then do it. Or don't. We won't notice.

Of course, other girls will judge you and gossip about you regardless of what you do with your hair, so if that is important, just copy what the popular kids do, and remember to check the latest fashions so you can keep your hairstyle up to date.

Most guys I know like girls' hair down, but we don't talk about it. In fact, I've never talked with another guy about that, so I could be completely wrong. If you force a guy to think about a girl's ponytail, he would probably say that it seems more practical up, as it's less likely to get caught in a pneumatic torque wrench or ventilation fan. That's probably why men with long hair tie it back.

Once again, we neither notice nor care, except when we're helping you extricate your hair from some sort of machinery or picking hairs out of the food you made.

Athena is absolutely right. Gender identity is already set once you leave the womb, You are what you are, and there's nothing that can change it. People do not "become" transgender, it's something they are born as that develops over the course of the lifetime. For some, it's really obvious right away; for others, it takes a while to show up. But either way, it is an inborn trait that's simply growing up on its own time.

Boys don't ever notice the difference, to them it's just a hairstyle.
Some girls like to have their hair in their face to cover themselves up. And some tie their hair up constantly because they are afraid of letting their hair down. But, sometimes people are just doing it for hairstyles.
